Coaching the kids

In his spare time, Dr. Johnston becomes Coach Johnston, a title he has had for the past 17 years. His own experience playing hockey taught him the spirit of competition, fair play, and teamwork.  Whether running camps, teaching kids to skate, or coaching higher level (AAA) hockey teams, being on the ice with kids offers him the opportunity to help pass those lessons onto the future Steve Yzerman or Jonathan Toews of the world.  Not unlike the world of vocational evaluation and testimony, the goal is to identify the strengths of each player, develop an individualized practice plan to get them to the next level, provide feedback to the skater and parents, and ensure that the player has fun!
